Memphis Grizzlies break Miami Heat's Home Streak; Romp to a 97-82 win – NBA Recap
The Memphis Grizzlies travelled to Miami to take on the team with the best home record in the league. But Memphis, who came into this game, 5-2 in their last 7, was not intimidated either by Miami Heat's record or their star players.
7 members of the Memphis squad had double figure points as the Grizzlies defeated extinguished the Heat 97-82. Rudy g*y scored a team high 17 points for Memphis and LeBron James had 21 to lead the Miami scoring.
Memphis started the game with an 8-2 run and never trailed thereafter. Dwyane Wade missed his first 8 field goal attempts and Miami had 10 turnovers in the first quarter alone. The Grizzlies had great offensive momentum throughout
the quarter and reduced the hosts to only 12 points, leading 25-12 at the end of the first.
Memphis kept pushing on the offense in the 2nd quarter and led by as many as 19. They closed the first half leading 48-32. Miami tried to gain some momentum in the third quarter, bringing the Memphis lead down to 10
at one point, but the Grizzlies were unstoppable and finished the third quarter ahead at 73-61.
Grizzlies reserve did the job in the last quarter, in which they led by as many as 20 enroute to a 97-82 win.          
Rudy g*y had 17 points for Memphis, Mike Conley had 15 points and Marreese Speights chipped in with 15. The Memphis bench combined for 36 points. Gilbert Arenas was 4 of 5 from beyond the arc for his 12 points. LeBron James had
21 points for Miami while Dwyane Wade scored 20 from 8 of 18 shooting.
“I've been having a lot of ups and downs coming from my injury. I just wanted to go out and try to get a rhythm. I haven't been in a rhythm lately. With a season like this, you've got to find a way to get your legs under you” said
Rudy g*y after the match.
The Grizzlies were 8 of 17 from the field where as Miami were only 4 of 18. Memphis had 10 turnovers compared to 14 by Miami. The Grizzlies also outscored Miami in offensive rebounds early in the game, which allowed them to have
2nd shots and enabled them to grab a big lead, which they didn’t lose throughout the match. Miami never led Memphis at any point in the game, and Memphis reduced Miami to only 82 points, when they are averaging 100.6 points per game at home this
season. Memphis also broke Miami’s 17 game winning streak at home.
“The first time I looked up at the scoreboard, we were up 15 points. We were playing well and we had a lot of people do a lot of good things. Our defense was really good early on” said Memphis coach Lionel Hollins.
Memphis are currently ranked 5th in the West, two wins behind the Los Angeles Clippers. Miami still have the 2nd best record in the East.
