Memphis Grizzlies edge out Houston Rockets 93-85: NBA Recap
Rudy g*y scored 21 points and Zach Randolph had another day at the double-double office with 15 points and 14 rebounds as they carried Memphis Grizzlies to their fourth consecutive win, 93-85, against the Houston Rockets. This
equals the Grizzlies best start of the season in their franchise history.
James Harden, the leading NBA scorer this season, failed to impress with only 18 points, going 4 of 18 from the field.
"Tony Allen did a great job on him and kept him out of his rhythm," said Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins.
Grizzlies owed their victory to their depth as their bench outscored the Rockets bench 29-15. They pulled away early in the fourth quarter and then survived a late rally by the Rockets to notch up a win.
Jerryd Bayless fetched 12 points and 3 assists while Mike Conley added 14 points for the Grizzlies. Chandler Parsons led the Rockets with 19 points and Omer Asik delivered a complete all round performance as he finished off with
10 points and 13 rebounds for the night. Rockets’ 20 turnovers compared to Grizzlies 9 hurt their cause a lot.
Memphis were 6-5 up when Raptors pulled of a 10-0 run to jump to 15-6 .Their lead was cut when Rudy g*y dunked one in and moments later made it 12-15 with a nice layup. Houston pulled away in the later part of the period and led
24-17 by the end of the quarter.
Grizzlies started the second quarter sharply, going for an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to 25-26.Raptors immediately responded with 5 straight points as they went up 31-25, before Grizzlies cut the deficit to 29-31. Raptors fetched
the next six points as they went up 37-29. Few moments later, Quincy Pondexter nailed a three pointer to tie the score at 42. A quick brace near the halftime left the Raptors leading by 46-42.
Grizzlies went in the lead for only the second time as a 12-2 run at the start of second half put them up 54-48. Houston immediately replied with a 6 point run to tie the score at 54. The lead kept changing hands later in the period
and the Grizzlies were up 69-68 by the close of the third quarter.
Memphis kept up the good work and were up 76-71 early in the final period. Marreese Speights sunk in a jumper to open up a 10 point lead for the Grizzlies at 85-75 five minutes from the end. Down by 10 points after leading for
most of the first half, alarm bells started ringing for the Raptors and they responded with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to two as they brought it to 85-87. Memphis, however, kept their cool and scored the final six points of the game to finish off at 93-85.
