Memphis Grizzlies play-off hopes are flickering on the edge
The Memphis Grizzlies are about to grab their first play-off berth after five years, previously they qualified in 2006. This time around the Memphis outfits are much more in content if they are able to make it to the play-offs as they have enough youth power in their roster to thrust upon any team. The National Basketball Association (NBA) play-offs are to begin after 13 April.
The Grizzlies are currently ranked at 8th position in the Western Conference and their final four games are remaining, which will decide their fate for final play-off spot. The Houston Rockets are also trailing behind at 9th position in the same Conference.
Memphis have won 44 games so far in the on-going season. However, in their recent 37 matches, that they have played, they have won 26, which clearly demonstrate their brilliant performance and a great accomplishment.
The Grizzlies’ Head Coach, Lionel Hollins, seems very optimistic about his team and its chances to qualify for the play-offs. He is excited to see that all his players are sweating their guts out in the practice sessions to outshine in the next level.
Hollins also mentioned in an interview, “If we had to count on all the young guys, we'd be in the same boat this year as we were last year, they're trying to find their way and play with poise and execute and get things done. The veteran guys know how to do it, and they just do it.”
The Memphis Grizzlies have huge fire power in their current roster. The talented big man, Zach Randolph, alone can change the result of the game. He is averaging 20 points per game for the Grizzlies. O.J. Mayo, Marc Gasol, Darrel Arthur, Tony Allen and Marc Conley are the other players who will be putting everything to inspire their fans.
Mike Conley is one key player in the Grizzlies roster, who is confident on his teams’ preparation and skills to upset any team in coming future. On Tuesday night, against the Los Angeles Clippers, he scored game high 20 points and five rebounds for the Memphis Grizzlies. However, the Grizzlies gave away the game to the Clippers by just one point deficit, 81-82.
Conley performance also shows the commitment with the Grizzlies and he will be one the match-makers for the Grizzlies in the play-offs’ stage. He is playing with the Grizzlies for over three years now and has established himself as a reliable starter for his team. Conley thinks this is a big accomplishment as a team that we came that far.
Conley further added “I'm very happy. Not satisfied, but it's a great feeling to be in the position we're in right now”.
The stakes are high for the Memphis Grizzlies now. The next four games against the Sacramento Kings, the New Orleans Hornets, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Clippers are very crucial for them as the level of expectations of their fans is bigger than ever.
