Memphis Grizzlies record comfortable 108-90 victory over hosts Milwaukee Bucks – NBA Recap
The Memphis Grizzlies travelled to Milwaukee to face the Milwaukee Bucks, and came away with a comfortable 108-90 victory in the end, here on Wednesday night. The Grizzlies took control of the game after a big 2nd quarter in which they outscored the Bucks 33-21, and held on from there onwards to take the victory. Zach Randolph finished with a team high 18 points and 13 rebounds for the night, going 7 of 12 from the field. Marreese Speights had 18 points and 9 rebounds from the bench, giving the Grizzlies the much needed support from the second unit. Brandon Jennings had a team high 19 points and 5 assists for the Bucks, but was 6 of 20 from the field for the night.
Both teams were neck to neck throughout the first period, and the Bucks took a 22-19 lead after two free throws by Larry Sanders. The Grizzlies came back in the final minutes with a jump shot by Marc Gasol, and Rudy g*y then hit a slam dunk before the end of the period to give the Grizzlies a 23-22 lead. Memphis then started the second period strong, going on a 9-0 run capped off by a three pointer by Jerryd Bayless to put them up 32-22. The Bucks had five missed field goal attempts and two turnovers to open the period before they got their first field goal to fall. A 6-0 run later in the period by the Grizzlies ensured that they held on to a comfortable 44-31 lead, and Memphis then closed the first half by scoring the final four points to take a 56-43 advantage into the half time break.
The Grizzlies continued their onslaught in the third period and after the Bucks scored the first point of the period through a free throw by Monta Ellis, the Grizzlies went on an 8-0 run to extend their lead margin to 64-44. Milwaukee made an attempt at a comeback, going on a 15-4 run to cut the deficit down to 62-73. Four straight points by Brandon Jennings followed by a hook shot by Sanders completed the Bucks comeback and had them trailing 68-75 with one minute left in the period. However, Memphis closed the period through two three pointers by Quincy Pondexter and Wayne Ellington to take an 81-68 lead into the final period.
As had been the case in the whole game, the Grizzlies got off to a good start in the final period, going on a 6-2 run to extend their lead to 87-70. From there on, the Grizzlies remained in control of the game and held a comfortable lead throughout to win 108-90 in the end.
Rudy g*y had 17 points and 5 rebounds for Memphis while Marc Gasol finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Monta Ellis had 15 points and 7 assists for the Bucks where as Sanders finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Grizzlies shot 53 percent from the field and had a 49-41 advantage in rebounds.
