Memphis Grizzlies small forward Rudy g*y returns to the court after surgery: NBA Update
Memphis Grizzlies Rudy g*y shot the basketball for the first time since his surgery in March. The 24 year old forward was jubilant to hear the good news when he was allowed to shoot the ball.
Rudy had partially dislocated his left shoulder in the last game he played against the Philadelphia 76ers on February 15, 2011. After the initial examination, the physicians declared him unfit to play. Later Rudy visited Birmingham where a team of specialised doctors advised him to go under the knife.
At that point an upset g*y said , "I've never really been hurt. I've never had anything shut me down. There's really no brace or anything I can wear to make it better. I have to have the surgery."
Following the doctors’ advice, Rudy eventually had the surgery in March. Since then he is rehabbing from it. The injury kept Rudy away from the game for almost six months, but on August 10, night he received a clean chit that he can start light training.
Rudy was so excited with the news that he immediately went to the nearest gym and shot a ball. The injury must have been a tough time for the 2006 first round pick and he must be eager to grab the ball once again.
The Grizzlies lost their valuable asset at a very crucial stage of the regular-season when they were struggling hard to secure a place in the 2011 playoffs. However, it was quite astounding that the Grizzlies made it to the postseason without Rudy.
g*y was the top player for the Grizzlies in 2010-11 season, he had an excellent precision from the perimeter and securing a playoff berth without him was indeed a great achievement by the team.
Rudy was having an excellent season prior to the injury. His scoring average was 19.8 points during 39.9 minutes per game. g*y played 54 games in the preceding season with the Grizzlies. He achieved these stats with some quality shooting both from the field and free throw line (.471 percent from the field and .805 from the paint).
These numbers are above his career average figures, which show that Rudy had evolved his game tremendously with the passage of time. However, Rudy still require time to get fully fit and fortunately lockout has provided him that.
The 230 pounder is eager to resume training with the Grizzlies as soon as the lockout ends. Now with Rudy back in the side, the Grizzlies have more solid line-up for the next season. So watch out for the Grizzlies, as they will look to give more tough time to their opponents in the next season.
