Memphis Grizzlies star Rudy g*y opens up about his horrific shoulder injury last NBA season
Memphis Grizzlies small forward Rudy g*y sat out the later part of last season due to a shoulder injury and the player recalled the ordeal in a recent interview.
The Grizzlies star registered above average numbers last season and looked set to carry the torch for the resilient Grizzlies side in the playoffs. However his injury forced him to become just a mere spectator as Memphis embarked
on their best playoff run in history.
g*y admitted that he didn’t have a good time with the injury and revealed to Jonathan Abrams of Grantland that he was “Sulking, for the most part” of his time out.
When he got injured many analyst believed that the injury could end the g*y’s career. He however said that he was always confident of coming back;
“No, I knew how serious the injury was. I knew it would probably be a long recovery and I knew, possibly, if I didn’t rehab it like I was supposed to, it could have been career-ending. But I knew if I did it right, I’d be back
for the next season.”
The player has put in the hours required to make a recovery and is now well on his way back to an NBA court, whenever the lockout ends. For now, he is just happy over the fact that he will be able to play basketball again.
g*y revealed that he is not fully fit yet, but will get there soon.
“I’m about 90 percent. I’m definitely good enough to play. I’m just getting used to playing basketball again.” The Grizzlies forward said.
That would be a welcome news for Memphis. Rudy g*y is a star player at the franchise and although Zach Randolph picked up the mantle and helped the Grizzlies storm into the playoffs, one cannot help but wonder how things would
have turned out if g*y too was fit and firing.
The player started all of the 54 games he played in and averaged an impressive 39.9 minutes on the floor. Rudy averaged 19.8 points and 6.2 rebounds before getting injured last season. He also had 2.8 assists a game. If the Grizzlies
had that sort of input in the playoffs, in addition to the strong numbers guys were putting up already, they could have really made a deeper journey into the post season.
