Memphis Grizzlies vs Oklahoma City Thunder - NBA Preview
Memphis Grizzlies looked nothing like the team that almost made it into the Western Conference finals last season, in their season opener against the team, they stunned and knocked out in the first round of playoffs last April-
San Antonio Spurs.
Apart from Rudy g*y, all the big guns looked rusty and offbeat. Yet, the most disappointing aspect of the game was the 25 turnovers that the team committed.
However, that game is history now and Grizzlies need to focus on their next outing against Oklahoma City Thunder- the team that shut them down last year in the Western Conference semi finals.
Grizzlies fought the semi final series outstandingly and succeeded in pushing it to the 7th game, however Kevin Durant came in their way and led Thunder to a 105-90 win by scoring 39 points, denying Grizzlies a place
in the Conference finals.
Although, Grizzlies failed to progress further, they still performed way above their expectations the whole season. By the end, Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Rudy g*y had established themselves as one of the best offensive trios
in the league. Rudy caught an injury and was ruled out of the tournament, which according to some played a key role in Grizzlies loss to O.K.C, but Randolph and Gasol in tandems kept the team going.
However, now Rudy is fully fit and the trio would be looking to continue from where they left last season.
On the other hand, O.K.C have looked solid in the two games they have played so far, overpowering Orlando Magic 97-89 in the season opener and then edging past Minnesota Timberwolves 104-100 on Monday night, and now would be looking
forward to make it 3-0 after tomorrow’s game.
Kevin Durant, their main weapon and the player to watch out for in this season has already produced two mammoth tallies and for sure will be looking to register another one.
Then, teammates like Russell Westbrook and James Harden have also supported him well in the two games and both these will be aiming to continue the good work.
"We have a lot of guys that can get a basket: Russell, of course, James is really stepping it up scoring the ball," Durant said. "I think we feed off each other really well; it's not like guys are being selfish playing one-on-one
basketball."
On cards, Thunder look to be the favourites but Grizzlies proved last year they are the team who can surprise anyone when on a roll. No matter who wins the game, it is going to be an exciting contest with bulk of scoring machines
inside the court.
