Memphis Tennessee and Mount Athos confident ahead of future events
Memphis Tennessee and Mount Athos are looking to deliver strong results in the upcoming Boodles Diamond Ormonde Stakes at Chester in England. Both of them have delivered some good results for their respective teams, but they have not been consistent enough
to gain the confidence of the bookmakers in every race.
Luca Cumani, who has trained Mount Athos, stated, “He was very unlucky in the Melbourne Cup as he was out of position in a slowly run race and was bumped twice when he was making his run. That's his long-term target once again, but he's in good form for
his reappearance. I'm just hoping there's not too much rain, as he likes fast ground.”
The six-year-old gelding has taken part in quite a few races and has gained some experience over the years. However, he has not been able to maintain an exceptional winning percentage, which is not a positive sign. Despite that, his record is not a bad one
and he has managed to make his team proud on numerous occasions.
Overall, he has participated in 22 races, which clearly shows that he is not new to the business and can cause problems for his rivals. He has managed to win seven races in his career, which is quite a decent effort.
However, his performances other than that have been below par. If he has the right rhythm, he can finish on top of the table with ease, but things can go absolutely wrong for him, if he fails to gain some momentum at the start of the race. This is one area
he needs to work on otherwise things will start getting difficult for him with the passage of time.
On the other hand, Memphis Tennessee doesn’t have much experience, as he has participated in a total of seven events. He has succeeded in two of them whereas finished as a runner up and in third place once each.
His trainer Aidan O'Brien said, “He's been off a long time and is just ready to start back. He won this race a year ago and we're hoping for a good run.”
