Memphis grizzlies forward Rudy g*y organizing an exhibition game in Southaven – NBA News
NBA star Rudy g*y is busy organizing an exhibition game on Tuesday, 8th November. The game will feature some of the biggest stars in NBA.
Players who have confirmed their participation for the event at the Desoto Civic Center in Southaven include; Oklahoma City Thunder’s two time NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant, New York Knick super star Carmelo Anthony, New Orleans
Hornets point guard Chris Paul, Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith, Houston Rockets guard Kyle Lowery, Washington Wizard sensation John Wall, Charlotte Bobcats forward Corey Maggette and two time NBA slam dunk champion Nate Robinson.
Proceeds for the game will go to g*y’s Flight 22 Foundation. The star revealed that he had to put in a lot of work to get everyone together for the event as was hoping more people could still join in. The biggest hurdle he encountered?
Schedules.
“It was really tough to pull this all together,” g*y said. “Trying to get everyone’s schedule together was the toughest thing.”
He said the game will also serve as an outlet for basketball fans in the region. The NBA lockout has already cost a whole month of NBA games and the fans have become disgruntled with the situation. Memphis Grizzlies had a great
run in last season’s playoffs and with the interest in basketball at a high, g*y just wants to do his bit to keep the fans interested.
“I was worried about keeping (the Grizzlies') momentum going in the region after a successful season,” g*y said. “People in the mid-south are crazy about basketball, and now they have a chance to see some of their favourite players.”
A significant contingent of Grizzlies players have also signed up for g*y’s game, including guard O.J. Mayo, star forward Zach Randolph, Mike Conley and Josh Selby. g*y hopes that more of his teammates will become available by
the time the game is played, although Marc Gasol is a sure fire non-attendant because he is already playing in Spain.
g*y himself could do with a workout. He suffered a serious shoulder injury last season. He has fought his way back to fitness though and is now looking to spend more and more time out on the court to regain match fitness.
Once Rudy is back to his best, the Grizzlies will be confident of mounting even a more serious charge for the NBA World Championship next season.
