Memup exteral multi media hard drive I/O device...

Question

I have had my multi media player for 6 months and have been transfering films onto it and watching them via the TV. Everything was working fine until I tried to save a file and I/O device error appeared half way through transferring a file. When I plug the hard drive into the computer, the computer slows down and I cannot acess the E drive. When I plug it into the TV it is also very slow and does not show the films that are on the hard drive. I have tried running a scan on the E drive but cannot acess the drive at all through my PC. Any solutions??
