I am going to France in 4 months for vacation and I DO NOT want to look like . . . well . . . a tourist hahaha. I am 18 and I really want to dress like I belong over there. Only answers please from people who have either lived there or been there and know what they are talking about. Just give me like 4-6 examples of different guy's outfits to put together so I can get an idea. I am pretty slim and I am 6 ft tall. Thanks so much!!!

  1. Italy is the place for you

  2. A nice pair of designer jeans with a good quality shirt/pullover will be perfect for the young generation. Once you are on the spot you can still change your style/outfit if you think it doesn't fit in.

  3. It really depends on where you're going in france. In Montpellier (south of france) guys are very fashion (pink cap yes it is possible) and really care of their appearence. In brittany the youth style is more hippy or rave party style. But you can always dress as you want, you'll see there is every kind of fashion. Or there is this horrible fashion of tecktonik but you're maybe too old.

Frenchmen don't dress that differently than Americans.

No matter what you wear people will know you're a tourist the instant you open your mouth so why try to hide it?

True, there are tourists who dress like idiots but they'd look like idiots in their hawaiian print shirts, bermuda shorts, and necks draped with cameras clitching a guide book no matter where they went.

Dress in what you're comfortable in and stop worrying about it. I've spent a lot of time in Paris. I was there for most of this last October. No one really cares what you wear.
