Question:

Men's Rights: What Is The Best Approach?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I am a men's rights activist (MRA), but I am not anti-feminist.

Many MRAs (male and female) are anti-feminist. I can understand a lot of what they mean.

Perhaps they are right that all these problems are down to feminism, but the gender discrimination I have encountered so far has nothing to do with feminism, but more with people who are willing to cash in on when a group of people are being put down by society. The same people who have cashed in on unfair attitudes against women and other groups in the past.

So is it just me who is niave?

  1. You sound like me. I consider myself both a feminist and an advocate for men's rights. You oppose inequality on both sides. And I don't think you're naive at all. Your analysis of the situation seems pretty accurate to me.

  2. (Professional) feminists are very much against men's rights. http://feministing.com/archives/009244.h... This is only one example where feminists actually spend time and money to fight against men's rights. Feminists are very much female supremacists. (Real feminists... professional feminists... what amateur feminists call radical feminists).

Would you expect anything different from the American Association of University Women? I wonder what the American Association of University Men will say about this... oh that's right; that organization would be sexist.

Here is another where feminists protested against men getting help from being abused: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qodygTkTU...

  3. No you are not. In fact I am with you 100%.

  4. Well do what men have always down, identify a problem and adress it instead of being part of some loose group. Depending on what the most pressing problem is in your book be part of the solution.

I think its wrong how men get taken to the cleaners by divorce, therefore I deny marriage to women who have a mom at home that filed for divorce and encourage my friends to do the same.

  5. Since you asked, I will say the same thing to you as I would a feminist.  When you set out in a movement that is geared toward one gender or the other, you will immediately create undue animosity and difficulty.  I agree that there are some serious men's rights issues, just as there are still women's issues.  But society is sick of the pitting the one against the other - or, at least, thats the perception.

So - go about working for PEOPLE'S rights - ensuring that ALL receive equality...the time is ripe for it, and you would easily get support from both genders!!!

  6. You don't sound naive, you sound like a person who wants equality for everyone.  Hopefully it will be something that we, as a people, can achieve in our lifetime so that our children and our children's children won't have to fight for the rights everyone should enjoy.

  7. It gave me great joy to see your post - I am an ardent feminist, and all in favour of equalising men's rights where needed - I would love to see more co-operation between the groups, and I've no idea why some MRAs / feminists are opposed to one idea or the other :-)

  8. I don't really have an answer but a question to better educate myself.  What are the top 5 things that the MRA is currently working on?

  9. I agree that many profit when others are oppressed.  Usually if you look at the wealthy people who control the largest amount of resources they are the ones who never lose.  Society has many expectation of both females and males that are unhealthy and I am glad to finally hear of a MRA who doesn't blame women and feminism for everything.

  10. education.

  11. Political interest groups are like countries.

Sometimes you will be raging war on opposing thoughts.

Sometimes you will help each other when its beneficial to both.

A man can be pro men rights and not be anti-feminist. But there will be times that a MRA will need to fight back feminist. Nothing personal, but one should be like a rock and never compromises ideals.

After, all, there is no much point being a MRA if all you will be is a PC person that will just go with the flow and let feminist create more and more unjust conditions for men and hold on to the ones they put.

  12. Both feminism and masculism (men's rights activism) are incompatible with real equality. They are both s*x-based, s*x-biased, and therefore socially DIVISIVE.

The only answer is equalism. It's about recognizing that men and women are born DIFFERENT but are of EQUAL WORTH, and entitled to FAIR TREATMENT under JUST LAWS. Note the words in capitals, they are of the essence. (http://www.celticsurf.net/phpBB3/viewfor... )

Equalism regards all men and women as PEOPLE regardless of their gender and colour of their skin.

  13. I'm so confused about this MRA movement... exactly how are men being oppressed?

  14. Feminists have done many things that negatively affect men's rights, so it is very much understandable and reasonable why many MRA attack and criticize feminism.

  15. If you truely believe the cause of the problem is "people who are willing to cash in on when a group of people are being put down by society", you should be a HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST and not a MRA.

If you want to fight mainly only those problems caused by gender bias, be a feminist or a MRA

  16. Decide which issues are most important to you and work on them in order of priority: funding for prostate cancer, or making men aware of their rights as fathers. If you try to cover too many areas, your efforts will be a mile wide and an inch deep.

Good luck. And THANK YOU for your equitable position and respectful tone. Too many "MRAs" merely use it as a cover for woman-hating.

  17. The recent new fad is girls are doing so much better in school now then boys and  its presented in such an intentionally threatening way.  Its like its okay to be sexist towards men now.  Basically all these articles regarding the gender gap is saying girls are smart and boys are stupid, which is a ridicuously sexist and biased claim.  Actually, Ive had to help girls figure out how to work the VCR who were supposedly SO much smarter then me.  Ive run into this situation with girls on many occasions and its like "are you serious!" If you put a lot of weight and attention on one side of a scale the other side goes down and on mens sides we're on the ground right now.   Especially for men under 30.  It'll be harder for us to get jobs, live a lower quality of life just for angry feminists pride and revenge on an innocent generation.

  18. Feminists also advocate for men's rights. I think you should talk about the unfairness of the courts in regards to custody and alimony. The woman should get child support but why alimony? I never understood that and many men are 'taken to the cleaners'. Many judges favor the women and don't treat the genders equally. This is unfair since both parents have the responsibility to provide for the children not just the father. Also, maybe you could work on 'paternity leave' (few companies have them). Men could get 2-3 weeks off to help around the house and be there with the new baby. I think you could approach it by contacting ifeminists. They are individualist feminists who strongly advocate men's rights as well as womens' rights. Maybe creating a strong coalition could garner media attention and bring these problems to light.

  19. To those who fail to grasp why MRAs are needed now, well, its because of the massive misandry that feminism demanded and got from society. Due, in no small part, to feminism's misandristic LIES, such as that most DV victims are women (False), that women doing the same jobs with the same qualifications get paid less (False), and for demanding plenty of women ONLY perks, while lobbying against any similar ones for men. Thats sexism, and hypocrisy, and feminism has well *earned* the criticism that it recieves.

Further, MRAs for the most part, work to EQUALISE rights and obligations between men and women, so its quite reasonable to say that most MRAs are far closer to human rights activism than are any feminists. Note that even C4M, aka Choice For Men, does NOT advocate removing any reproductive rights from women, aside from women being allowed to make a sole choice, and then demand money from the man who never got a choice from her. Its sexist to spread out the duties, while giving ONLY women such legal rights. To solve this matter, all that is necessary is to enact laws that follow this philosophy: " Her body, her Choice... HER *responsibility*. " Just as No Taxation Without Representation, its fair for men to say, No Enforced Payments For A Choice That Wasn't Ours To Make. Thats both the MRA view, and its the Human Rights view: That the consequences of choices go to those who got the ONLY Choices. Because thats... fair.

Yes, you're naive. The good news is that you can learn to be less so. Read the appended titles for starters. Good luck.

  20. Read up about the way the feminista muscled in on Erin Pizzey's homes for battered wives, just so they could milk cash out of them.

  21. ???? what are you talking about?? Men dont have rights you silly little boy lol.  =)
