Men Athletes Confirmed For Berlin Marathon
September 26 brought the most exciting news about the soon to be held Berlin Marathon of this year. According to the sources, the top marathon trio comprises of Patrick Makau, Geoffrey Mutai and Sammy Korir have confirmed their participation into the event.
Besides this top trio from Africa, five other athletes from various other regions have signed for the event. Despite of a good response from the athletes around the globe for the event, the domestic spectators await for the confirmation of some household names.
With most of the participating runners depicting a high volume record maintained during last year, experts are expecting to have the deepest marathon of all times.
Besides making a tremendous short distance record, Makau from Kenya is the top pre-favourites for the event who has recently proved to be the fastest in the field for the long distance tracks. 25 years old Makau has already shown one of his best performances
during the last summer when he won the Rotterdam marathon, while covering the distance in just two hours, 4 minutes and 48 seconds.
The second pre-favourite for the race is Geoffrey Muta,i who shares the same origin with Makau. Mutai had already established and maintained the position of second to Makau during the Rotterdam Marathon. However, owing to his consistent struggle he has succeeded
in lowering his PB from two hours, seven minutes and one second to just two hours four minutes and fifty five seconds. Lowering his PB for three minutes at once and the consistent struggle to still push the time down has provided solid reasons to the experts
to expect further better results from him.
Korir, the third runner from the trio is being considered the third best for the event, even though he has not participated in any running event since the Tokyo marathon of last year where he made it to the finishing line in two hours, eleven minutes and
fifty seven seconds. Despite of being absent from this summer’s Rotterdam marathon, experts give his long experience a plus point which can help him out perform during the event.
Another potential runner for this year’s Berlin Marathon is known as Eliud Kiptanui. Kiptanui, the 21 years old comparatively new runner took attention of the experts as well as of the spectators back in the event of Prague marathon, where he made to the
finishing line with in just two hours, five minutes and thirty nine seconds. Though the PB time of Kiptanui is far less than Korir, the vast experience of the later is helping him to grab the third pre-favourite position.
Spectators of the Berlin Marathon are also excited about the performance of Bernard Kipyego who, by finishing the ten miles distance in two hours, seven minutes and one second, grabbed the fifth position at this summer’s Rotterdam marathon. Kipyego’s half
marathon PB that was 59:10 also gives reasons to the spectators to believe his abilities.

Ethiopia, despite of not having the renowned Haile Gebrselassie’s in its badge, is well confident about grabbing the Berlin marathon title in the hands of the young Bazu Worku. Worku has a PB of two hours, six minutes and fifteen seconds, which is far lower
than Bernard Kipyego, Korir and Eliud Kiptanui all. With all these contestants having almost equal potential to outperform each other during the event and aim to do so is the real factor which is going to make the event “deepest ever” as claimed by many experts.
The coach of a senior runner, while sharing his views said that at a totally non challenging field of Berlin marathon, the athlete who would try keeping the pace right from the beginning would be the one who would be naming the title. Since all of the athletes
participating into the event are well aware of this fact, we can expect to have some really thrilling race over here which would keep the crowd vibrant right from the beginning till the end.
