There is such a thing as 'smothering'.

Men can do this too - but with them its more like they can't spend time alone, they need to be with you every second of every day - clingy - so its not exactly the same thing, but its equally annoying.

Perhaps they are taking their socialised gender roles as "nurturer" to extremes?  Maybe they have been over-socialised to the point where they become neurotic?

If the Guy doesn't Deserve it- Absolutely!!! Some Men are too Selfish (or Brutish) to Appreciate the kindness of a Woman. They think that because their "attributes" are Large, or their Wallets are Fat, -that They're ENTITLED to being "nice" to, & that they can Use a Woman in ANY way they Please... So rather than being "Nice or Caring" to a Guy right up Front; a Woman should "Check Out" WHAT She's getting Into- BEFORE she starts caring about Someone... She could save herself aLOT of HASSLES- just around the "corner..."  :0

Yes - it can drive the guy mad and even be seen as insecurity (having to constantly suck up to him).

I'm not saying be mean - there really aren't enough nice people out there - just be careful that your 'niceness' isn't conceived as something else

Conversation, open-ness and honesty should get his answer on this one
