  1. there are circumstances whet this may be socially acceptable. for example rape,  major  foetus issues and psychological problems. (mental health etc.)

and possible ? economic and social ramifications ( some societies will take action against an unmarried mother or pregnancy by another other that a husband etc)

overall an emotive  question which brings out divided op ion. however we have had heated debate and medical opinions over the years in many countries. almost all now allow abortion in some circumstances.

if we look at the female perspective we see the argument for allowing her control over  her body and natures  part in its reproduction (her rights?)  versus societies acceptance of such acts.

in the time scale  almost all medical  arguments are for a shorter time frame for aborting a foetus but are currently being ignored to to political pressures.

my own argument is that in the FIRST  such pregnancy only should we look at or consider abortion unless its due to rape etc. A second or subsequent request should be denied as  after  the first 'mistake' a female cannot now  say she has not been aware of repercussions of having s*x and has obviously;y not taken on board the  fact  it HER responsibility in the first place to  use contraception with the best one being an unused word called 'NO' in modern societies.

also note we have in the world some societeis that use abortion as an economic or  selective process which is morally wrong and goes against natural selection.

whilst trying to respect those to whom all  abortions are seen as murder of a child My own understanding of growing foetus and MY  feelings are that until the collection of cells (fertilised egg ) is such that it can now feel pain and is unlikley to be naturally aborted ( that happens too) the ending of the foetus is not that great an issue at THAT point in time.

we really need to put greater empahasis on  birth contrlo and stop rewarding those females whom get pregnant ( here in Uk we offer a home etc paid for by others taxes ergo encouraging this sort of risk taking)

  2. her decision

  3. Women! What do you think about castration? Who cares?????????????????

  4. It's all her choice.

However, before she makes a decision, she needs/should know all the facts.

She's the one carrying the child.

    not me.

  5. Ends where you have a right to use some birth control method.

  6. Murder is murder. If you don't want a baby use protection, take the pill or don't have s*x. It's quite simple.

  7. ABORTION IS MURDER!

  8. I prefer to think about the child's right to live the life that came about by the union.

I understand that children are sometimes conceived as the result of heinous acts, and I am horrified that this happens but I am equally horrified that the greatest victim of these situations is often the child ............. and this is LEGAL in my land!

  9. It's the woman's right to have an abortion. Anyone that says otherwise is anti-woman.

  10. I very much respect womens rights to decide about abortion. It can't be an easy decision under any circumstances. They need our help and support but not interference to make what must be a traumatic choice.Tender and sincere aftercare is vital.

  11. Her choice. I should have a say, but I can't make her do anything she doesn't feel she'd be ready for.

  12. there will always be scope for debate on this question

i personally think the only acceptable scenarios for abortion is if a girl is raped and falls pregnant as a result as that is pregnancy forced on an non-consented person or if the phoetus has severe abnormalities or poses a severe threat to the health of the woman

people who have abortions by choice in scenarios other than this are killing a life that could otherwise be suported and loved by them or someone else

i also think the time limit on abortions should be reduced to 20 weeks as ive seen an exhibit on the human body and it showed the size and developement of a 24 week old phoetus in a glass box and they are almost fully formed it is only the internal organs that need further developement at 20 weeks the developement is much less

anyone who thinks abortion is murder is wrong in most situations it is a long and hard choice by the mother who has to live with the choice she has made for the rest of her life whether she has an abortion or has the child

  13. Men should have equal say.

  14. I am not a man but I think abortion shouldn't be considered. Adoption can be a choice too. But it is our choice.

  15. I think its sad that some women think that since they are carrying the child that means they have the right to kill it. Thats BS. Adoption is the only option.

  16. I'm not a man, but I think if women can have the right to choose, men should have the right to not take responsibility for it by not paying child support, because that is what it is all about, not taking responsibility for your actions. All this stuff about its my body is c**p, you have a baby, your hormones are screwed up for a little while, then everything returns to normal except for maybe a few stretchmarks. It is all pure irresponsiblity, vanity and selfishness. I don't think men should have any say in the abortion issue, because if they did, you would see many young mothers getting pregnant by con-men that wanted to use her for birthing reasons. There are way to many people out there that want children that can't have them, and what better way to get a biological child than to deceive a young girl and play on her emotions, then fight for his right to take that child and run off with the woman he really loves. Overall, I think people, not just women, but men to, need to be more responsible and either stop having s*x or use contraceptives. There is no excuse to murder a baby. ;-)

  17. Well here's what I think about it:  It depends on why the woman wants the abortion.  If she was a victim of incest or rape I think it would be justified, but there are always options like adoption and such, but If a couple didn't use birth control or a condom I don't think that they should be allowed to seek an abortion because of their carelessness.  I guess what I'm saying is that I don't believe in abortion, but there are some extreme cases in which it may be necessary, like if a woman was dying during delivery and that was the only way they could save her life.

  18. I'm OK with that.  She's the one who's got to carry it to term and deal with most of the immediate repercussions of being pregnant.  Guys have the easy part, at least for the first 9 months.

  19. NO. NO,NO, NO, NO, NO!!!! The people who do that are no different from the whack-o's who stick their kids in bathtubs til they drown. What kind of twisted world have we come that doctors murder babies? Society has taken a turn downhill, and (sorry to involve politics) the presidential candidates won't help.

EDIT: I'm not sure about medical reasons though. I don't wanna sound like a hypocrite.

  20. She can do what she wants. She has to carry it, she has to deliver it and she will always be part of that child's life. So, she can do what she is capable of handling.

You see the guy, can just vaporize and never be part of that child's life. Period. On the other hand, the guy can be if he chooses. The guy has a choice too.

Oh, and the guy can always leave the lady if she wants to abort and he does not. Decisions do have their consequences.

It is NOT an easy situation

  21. Whaaaaat? The womans right to have the unborn slaughtered. They are murderers, as are the people who butcher the unborn. God dam them! The baby is living from the sperm onwards, aborters seem to think that it's only living after conception. They should adopt it out if they're too lazy to look after their own flesh and blood, rather than having it slaughtered with a machine. I only see the point in abortion if the womans life is at risk, other than that I see them all as murderers -plain and simple.

You would be shocked if someone slaughtered a baby, what's the difference between that and abortion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. I don't think the language of "rights" is helpful on this issue. Obviously when the point of viability is reached there are two persons interests to consider and talking about rights isn't much use at that point. I prefer to make a judgement on the morality of an abortion on a case by case basis like any sensible person should. I think people on both sides who shout about rights do so because they want to stifle debate or stop people using their brains to really consider the issue sensibly.

  23. This is a really good question and one that it is likely to have lots of passionate responses on both sides.

First of all I would like to say that I agree wholeheartedly with abortion, and a persons right to choose, unless (and I have seen this as a nurse) women start to use abortion as late contraception. Other than that, accidents happen, as do other worse scenarios, and people may not be psychologically/emotionally/economically ready to bring a child into the world and that is an important consideration. So abortion can and is an important option for people.

Saying that I think the response above had it right. 'A man needs a wifes/partners signature to get a vasectomy'.

If a woman gets pregnant then in the eyes of the law SHE has all the legal and moral rights to decide what happens, regardless of the wishes of the man, and that is wrong.

The mans decision MUST also be taken into consideration.

At the end of the day it is the womans body and noone should be able to force that woman to go through with the pregnancy and give birth. Neither should that woman be forced to have an abortion.

BUT if that woman decides to go through with the birth WITHOUT the mans consent then that woman should have to give up any rights to later demand any parental responsibility or monetary responsibility from the man. You women cannot have it both ways.

  24. I'm against abortion except for serious medical reasons, and maybe in a pregnancy as a result of rape.  I can't make up my mind on that one.  Otherwise, the woman had the choice to have s*x or not.  She should've considered that beforehand.

I do NOT consider incest by itself to be grounds for an abortion.  If it's incest and rape at the same time, then maybe (like I said, I'm undecided there).  But incest without the word rape implies the woman is as willing as the man is.  I don't know why people consider them the same thing.  Often they are, but not always.

  25. I don't think they should have a right to an abortion unless the pregnancy is a serious threat to their health.

  26. My brother just had a vasectomy and it required his wife's signature.  I think it should be the same way with abortions.

  27. When was the amendment in the constitution voted for the right of abortion? I don't recall any, so is not a right, just a law.

But to tell you what I think about abortion law.

Instead of giving my usual pro-life answer. Lets put if in a equal rights point of view.

A woman can kill the baby without the consent or even the knowledge of the man. The man have no saying on this. Thus the woman can avoid the responsibility and the man have no right to object.

A woman can decide to have the baby again without the consent of the man. Not only that but the man is expected to pay for the baby. Thus the woman have the decision to keep the baby and the man is FORCED to pay for the unwanted baby without any way to object.

There are 2 ways to minimize this double standard.

    A. Make abortion illegal. This way everyone have the duty of responding for their actions.

    or

    B. Let the man walk out if he does not want the baby.  No paying for unwanted babies.

In the case of B, it only makes just one side of the equation as the woman still controls the life or death of the creature of both.

  28. It is only good if they have a coupon. It can get pricey.

I'm just kidding. I think it is up to the individual. Personally, I am against it and would only date a woman that is against it.

  29. I prefer that the child should have a right to life. The number of abortions carried out in this country represents a National disgrace. 75% of women agree with this, as does, increasingly, the medical profession. It is a ghastly business, which seems to run counter to nature, maternal instinct, society, religious teaching, all in the name of feminism, supported it would seem by some of the posts by deluded men. We always have to introduce rare and extreme circumstances such as rape in order to try and obscure the debate.

The original abortion act brought in in the 1960's was intended to cover situations where the life of the mother was likely to be jeapordised by continuing to term. How it has been corrupted since, feminists turning it into an 'on demand right'. In a similar way, IVF has been grossly abused. Create the means, and it becomes the Devil's tool.

Adoption is always an option, although Social Servises have corrupted even that.

  30. I think that an abortion is both great and not great. If the mother didn't want the child then she shouldn't of had s*x in the first place. If she got pregnant while using both a condem and pills then yes, she should get an abortion. First off: pregnancy ruins a womens body. If the woman couldn't take of herself or the fetus then she should get an abortion. If that's what she wants then yes, but she seriously shouldn't have done it in the first place! I mean seriously! s*x? and not wanting a baby? that's ubsurd!

  31. the woman is carrying the child, but the child is the product of the man equally with the woman.

there should be no abortion without the consent of the father.
