I like crusty French or Italian bread - the real deal, not that imitation stuff, slice it thick, put it under the broiler for a few minutes, rub it with garlic after and drizzle a bit of olive oil on it.

I also like a bit of pancetta in the soup itself (fry before and make your soup as usual, with the bacon/panceta) and garnish soup with fresh flat leaf parsley.  

Sometimes I also add some Parmigiano Reggiano to the bread -  find the good stuff, buy it at a specialty store.  It will be $14 a lb, but to me, so worth it.
