  1. I think it's really a subjective issue. There are so many factors to consider when answering such a broad question.

Although women are still largely discriminated against (not just in the east, but even in Canada and the US), it's almost as if it's become politically incorrect just to be a guy. For example, if you notice, most American commercials will show couples in which the woman is a brilliant, problem-solving, beautiful goddess, and the man is balding, overweight, dumb as h**l and lucky to have her. If you were to turn the scenario around, you'd have feminists protesting their asses off. Men basically have to concur with feminine values to avoid being hassled or called chauvinistic.

On the other hand, women are objectified and dehumanized by the media. This makes women's lives difficult because we're constantly being reminded that we have to life up to impossible measures of perfection, and because men pay attention to the media too, they begin to believe in this "perfect female image" and heighten their expectations of what a real woman should look and act like. Violence against women in the media and the objectification of women promotes the violence of women. Call something an object, and it becomes one.

Although Canadian statistics show that men are actually more likely to fall victim to ATTEMPTED rape, women have much more difficulty defending themselves in these kind of situations, and this puts them in a lot more danger. 9/10 a man will be able to physically overpower a woman and have his way with her.

Both sexes suffer on an emotional, physical, and psychological level thanks to silly gender stereotyping, such as the expectations for women to be nurturing, sensitive, and feminine, and the expectations laid on men to act masculine, keep their feelings bottled up, and keep their intimate problems to themselves in order to avoid being labeled as "g*y" or "weak."

Men, on average, get paid more for doing the same kind of work. They also have better chances of getting hired for corporate jobs because it is assumed that they are more emotionally/mentally fit to handle tough decision-making situations, and are less likely to take paternity leave.

Women go through labor pains, which sucks, but there are some men out there who feel bad about the fact that they will never get to live the experience of childbirth.

These are just a few things.

  2. Only thing i could say womens lives are harder due to childbirth hurts like heck, and periods are absolutely terrible, but nonetheless, it depends on the person as an individual

  3. Each individuals life experience is so different from their neighbors that a simple change in gender does not show a significant change in well being.

There are individual exceptions to the rule, but they are on both sides.
