I read that men have "perfected" the game of 9-ball. I'm curious as to how and also what that says about the women pro pool players.

For extra credit: name an black (male or female) professional pool player.

  2. It would be interesting to know where you read it.  There have been some "battle of the sexes" type questions in the past which have created some nice discussions.  Players of either gender can break-and-run, play dead safeties, or hit the awesome shot, but maybe it's the consistency or the competitive atmosphere in which they can do it.

As far as black players, Leonard 'Bugs' Rucker, 'Piggy Banks' Glen Rogers, and 'Okinawa Slim' Nate Bryant are all black.  Not as familiar with any females though.

  3. I think in general men are better at 9 ball ONLY because they generally have been playing it longer. It doesn't require a gorilla to move a ball 8 feet. I know many women that can consistently run the table. But I also know one guy who I watched run 17 racks and has done this on a pretty consistent basis. Pool until recently was also played in pool halls and bars. Places where women didn't hang out.

  4. confidence # 1 reason a "really" good woman player will get rattled when playing a man who knows why

Kim White & Sherie Hudson  Both Womne's N Am 8 ball champs shot out of our club in Houston And never won a $5 tourn . I never could figure that one out

Yeah I know but the money was in the Calcutta

  5. I think in order to excell at any sport you need to play with the best to improve your game. There are a few women that play in mens or open events and compete with the best in the world and they do very well. I think by playing the best players they improve their own games as well.

Ike Runnels, Cliff Joyner, and Mark Tadd are all tremendous pool players.

  6. I'm not sure how you perfect an game in pool, its different every time you hit the rack.  Womens pool has come along very well.  I'd rather watch it then mens if I have a choice between the 2.  As far as the black pros.  I'm not sure. There is a very good woman out of Milwaukee that I'm not sure if she is playing pro tournements or not.  I have seen a few black road players.

  7. I think the pro women are doing just as good as the men
