  1. I got my first one at 13. It was a 1967 yamaha 350. I used to ride it to jr high school and park where the teachers parked. I am 51 and I have had many bikes, dirt and street.  I too had a triumph, a 1967 bonneville. Right now I have a 1977 BMW airhead

  2. I am 40 right now. When I used to be in college in New Delhi, India 20 years ago, only six to eight boys in a college of 8,000 kids had bikes. Some 10 to 12 girls from very rich families got dropped off in cars and a 100 more used to take taxis as they were the only ones who could afford them. I used to dream of a time when I could have a shiny new bike of red and gold and also know how to ride it and / or get dropped off a car driven by a uniformed chauffeur. Well, my sister and I used to walk to college. Unfortunately, my father's salary could afford to just pay the rent and pay for our food and clothes. However, I got a job as a journalist, just after I finished college and could pay for the rent for the family all by myself. That was more fun than having a bike. Even today I feel good about it.

  3. Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to go fast. When I was 4 all I had was a pedal Batmobile which obviously didn't meet my speed requirements so when my mom wasn't looking I would ride it down a really steep hill for a speed fix. I finally broke my collar bone doing that trick. Got my first motorcycle at age 10 and took to it like a duck to water, ran my first race just a few weeks later and placed 3rd. Been riding and racing ever since.

  4. Always man.. my dad had A Motorcycle.. id beg to drive it. but idk.. now a days man... id love to have one.. But hinestly the repercautions of having one is very severe.. imagine.. Getting in a car crash on the freeway going over 65 mile per hour getting thrown from ur bike on the rough hard black Concrete awaiting 50 other cars going the same MPH..just speeding running you over one by one..

one crash on the freeway and ur dead.. =(

my friend eric.. died.. he had a Simple Dirt bike.. sped up.. crashed into a tree and died.. Whiplashed his neck on impact.

    =*(

  5. you are a bit young for that bike. but if you really want one get a HORNET 250 they are cool i love them. i grew up on bikes and love them and i have 4 brothers and every one love bikes.  but 17 is very young for a 250cc.  you might be too young to get insurance on a 250cc.  would you not start off on a 125cc til you have some experience because trust me you will need it, i came off a few time,

  6. built my first chopper when I was 18, a 650 Triumph, been building and wrenching ever since

  7. i had every thing i wanted back in the day, 'cuz i had 2 real good paying jobs, and before that was working full time at 1 job part time at another and going to school from the age of 13 to 17. bought my first harley at 18, then at 22 got myself a classic 1970 triumph. then i kinda started getting in trouble with the law and now my drivers license is suspended for life! sigh.  * walks off shaking head in defeat*

  8. I drooled over motorcycle magazines and books from about age 10.  Would stop and look at every parked Harley, Moto Guzzi, Triumph, Norton, BMW, BSA.   Started working construction after school and summers for my cheapskate dad who paid diddly at age 13 and saving my money, bought me a totally boss gold and white Triumph Bonneville 650 about two weeks before my 16th birthday.

Drove it to my motorcycle test hoping I would't get stopped.  Passed the test and got stooped by an off duty cop on the way home for doing 80 in a school zone, but being off duty he only balled me out.  Like I say, it was a d**n good thing my frist bike wasnt a 600 sportbike or I wouldn't be here.

Good choice for a first bike.  Good luck and keep your head on a swivel and don't trust cars and try to ride smart.

  9. I didn't want one but my Mom said she would feed me to the wolves if I didn't get one. I was 9.

  10. I used to want 1 util i went on the dirt bikes at a fair once when i was about 9 , i totally lost controll and went straight through the straw bails..i now drive a safe car :)

  11. Bought my first one at 13, a YZ80. I've had Yamahas, Triumphs and BMWs. I currently own a 2006 CBR1100xx Super Blackbird and a 2005 Harley Davidson Road King.

Hey chopperchopster, what sort of 650 triumph did you have? I had a 1968 650 bonneville when I was 18. nice ride but forever throwing spanners at it.

  12. What do mean younger!? I STILL want a motorcycle. I don't know a single grown man who doesn't have one or want one. Every guy wants wants a motorcycle.

Not wanting a motorcycle is like not wanting to have a p***s.

  13. I always wanted to have one but could get only when I was around 22

  14. Had no interest whatsoever until i hit my thirties. Just got my full licence and first bike in late thirties.

  15. I wanted one so bad I used to put smashed soda cans in my brakes so it would rub against the tire and sound like a motorcycle. I didn't get my own until I was about 25.

  16. Yeah, I wanted a Ducati 916 or a Harley Davidson Road King or a 1949 Indian.

  17. When I was 17 I was watching some cheesey biker movie.  Afterwards, I went to my parents and told them that I was thinking about buying a bike when I was in college.  I figured they'd say "no", but to my surprise, my mom immediately said, "I know a guy who is selling one right now!" and my dad came back with, "I can teach you how to ride it (he used to have bike in the 80s".  Sure enough, 2 weeks later I bought my first bike for $2k (I had $6k in the bank from working summers).  It was a '93 Kawasaki EN500.  Then I took over my dad's 2001 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 when he bought his Harley.  When I was in college, my dad and I built a custom chopper.  Now, that is what I ride.  My wife calls it "the other woman".  I'm 25 now.

  18. Pre-teen I can't recall ever wanting a motorcycle, I spent my youth in England and I don't recall seeing too many motorcycles where we lived.  My uncle had one but I was never able to see or ride it.  At 14 I had a bad experience during my first motorcycle ride, I don't recall what brand of bike but it was a sport bike type bike.  Got a ride home from a football game on the back, the guy riding was my friends brother.  He did several wheelies and took the bike well over a safe speed, it was not a good first ride for a 14 year old.

My interest in bikes didn't return until I was 18 and in the military.

  21. i started riding motocross when i was six,my dad loves motorcycles but he likes sport bikes,i'm more into the dirt rider kind,i got my first 50cc yamaha yzf at six and started racing junior mx rider, eventually i went into motocross free style,i was 16 when i did my first back flip which ended in tragedy,i didn't flip enough and landed face first and to make things worse my ktm125 sx landed on me...i broke both shoulders, broke my left groin in three places, broken nose, dislocated jaw and a severe concussion(i nearly cracked my neck bone in half which would have lead to definite death)so now i don't race off road of even ride it anymore...i have a Ktm 400 sx fitted with road tyres and a kawasaki ninja zx 10(1100 cc)...which i love to cruise with...motorcycles will aways be my passion...ride on
