Question:

Mend broken glasses frames?

I have a pair of glasses. The frame recently broke- the lower part of one of the hinges separated from the rim. Is there any way to fix this? Some kind of strong glue perhaps? They don't have to look that great- they just have to hold together.

  1. "the lower part of one of the hinges separated from the rim"

I assume you mean where the lower rim is screwed to the upper rim.

If you do not have the s***w then your local optometrist should find you a new s***w. It should not cost anything to do this.

If the rim has snapped it will need a solder. This is a fine temporary fix and you should not have this done on your main pair especially if you rely on your eyesight for your work.

Glue never works and it invariably gets on the lenses anyway.

  2. Take them to a pro to have them fixed...if they can be...

Home repairs to glasses usually just make things worse....especially where glue is involved.

  3. If you take them to a place like LensCrafters or Pearl Optical, they will repair them. If it's a simple repair, they may be able to do it while you wait.
