With just five points from their opening eight matches in the league, Osasuna are still rooted to the bottom of the table as they were held by Real Betis to a 0-0 draw at Estadio El Sadar.
The visitors started the game brightly and created the first few chances in the game. It was their player, Ruben http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Castro-c8590, whose goal was ruled out as an offside within the first 15 minutes.
Slowly the home side started advancing and asserting their presence on the pitch. Their closest chance to a goal came when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roland-Lamah-c31571 fired over the goal post from long range.
The second half started with the same tempo for both the teams and no side could edge over the other.
The Belgian international was again causing trouble for the visitors as he was trying to penetrate from the flanks but he couldn’t just create clear cut chances for his side.
The introduction of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joel-Campbell-c18716 for Betis seemed to have created some movement in the team but no one could break the deadlock as the match ended in a goal-less draw.
However, Osasuna coach, Jose Luis Mendilibar, was happy with the outcome of the match and said that they will keep fighting to stay in La Liga.
“Today I care about the point, not the game itself. We are tied with Espanyol at the bottom of the table, and will continue to fight to play in this League.”
The coach appreciated the hard work his players showed in the field and also dearly appreciated the point his team got from the match.
“I think a point is a good result for us tonight. We ran hard and fought all over the pitch, but we did not make any real chances.”
Meanwhile, Real Betis boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 Mel, is also satisfied with the result of the match and believes that it was a fair result for both sides.
“We played well in the first half, and had some clear chances. I'm satisfied with my team. We played some good football”.
He also commented on the goal his team scored but was ruled out by the referee for offside.
“The referee told me he was offside, but I haven't seen it. No one could see anything from the bench.”
Osasuna will be hoping to register their first away win of the season when they travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Calderon this weekend.
