I am 51...almost menopausal...but still in transition....Is it normal for you to have achy joints in hips and legs and back?? I am basically healthy...do not take any HRT of any kind, and do not intend to, and take no prescription medications at all..in fact I do avoid it. But I do take on ocassion Bayer Back and Body Pain Aspirin, and Motrin or Aleve. It's not sharp pains...but just annoying...and uncomfortable....Any suggestions, and or input would be appreciated.

  1. Peri-menopausal women may have morning stiffness and joint pains in the hands, knees, hips, lower back and shoulders. This symptom is commonly reported in menopausal women in Asia. The drop in estrogen may be a contributing factor but the reasons for why this increases joint/muscle aches and pain are unclear.

One of the best over the counter remedies to take is Glusomine and Condrotin which most doctors recommend. I would have a bone scan done just to see what is going on--it is considered preventative medicine to do this.
