Menorah seen on top of his game in International Hurdle
The International Hurdle that took place this Saturday at Cheltenham rewarded the spectators with excellent performances by the top horses. However, shining the brightest of all was Menorah who showed superior skill and speed and
proved his mettle by winning the race.
The tremendous feat has shifted the attention of bookies and bettors to this talented horse and he has become the favourite amongst many of them for the upcoming 2011 Champion’s Hurdle, which is going to take place in March. Menorah
had attracted a lot of cash and his 7/4 bettors were rewarded profusely.
Coral, a leading sports betting agency is backing Menorah after watching its impressive performance in the International Hurdle race.
"Menorah has shown his liking for Cheltenham once again, this time with his most impressive victory to date, and on what we've seen so far this season, he deserves to head the Champion Hurdle betting in our opinion," Coral's
David Stevens explained to Racingbase.
Richard Johnson, Menorah’s rider is excited about the development of the horse and says that its skill is improving with the years,
“He's definitely getting more grown up, that was the most impressive he has ever been.
"He saves himself now for the end of his races and he picked up really well off the bend. When the gap came he was able to go through it. He's grown up mentally as well as physically and I'd say there is probably more to come,"
added Johnson.
Menorah’s form comes as a warning to his rivals for the 2011 Champion Hurdle. Apart from that, Cue Card and Silviniaco Conti have also been sent a wake-up call for the upcoming Grade two show-piece. Both the horses are a year younger
than Menorah and in good form as well.
During the International Hurdle, there was tough competition between Cue Card and Menorah. At one point, it looked as if Cue Card would emerge as victor of the race; however, Menorah proved everyone wrong by putting up a real fight.
Menorah took Cue Card over and speeded on to a four-and-a-half length victory.
