Ravenscraig Regional sports facility in Motherwell, Scotland, which is considered to be one of Europe’s largest steelworks, will be the home for final round matches. The same venue was selected by CEV, in order to host the 2010 edition of Junior Men’s Volleyball
European Championship but the event was cancelled on account of low number of entries. Nonetheless, this time around the enthralling action of volleyball will take place at the Ravenscraig Regional sports facility.
This is the first time that Scottish Volleyball Federation is hosting the final round of such big competition, where six finalists will come into stride and full day competitions will be staged.
In the final round opener tomorrow, Cyprus will take on Ireland. Cyprus already has one victory in the history of this tournament and it is likely that the team will use the competitive edge in the game. The match will start 1530 (local time).
The second match of the day will bring teams from Luxembourg and San Marino together in the competition. Luxembourg is among the pre-favourites of the tournament and is expected to win the match. In addition of Cyprus, Luxembourg is the second team in the
competition that has one victory in hand.
The host Scottish team will cross its ways with the guest team from San Marino. The home team will have certain advantage in the match as it will be playing under familiar conditions. Furthermore, the Scottish team is eyeing the medal.
The final round will be continued for five days and a total of fifteen matches are supposed to be played. Eventually, the team with better ranking points will catch the limelight on April 7.
