Men’s Volleyball National Team of Canada ready to rumble at Pan American Cup
The Volleyball Canada has recently announced that the Centre Robert-Guertin in Gatineau, Quebec will host the 6th Pan American Cup Tournament in June 2011.
The tournament will officially run from June 13-18, while teams from 10 countries will join the action. The competition will be tough as five teams out of 10 participating countries are ranked in the top-20 teams of the world.
Brazil and United States will also send their teams, which are currently ranked in the top-five group. The home squad has started the preparation for the tournament on Monday.
The head coach, Glenn Hoag has the daunting task to prepare the team for upcoming home tournament. The Pan American Cup will mark the official opening of the 2011 season for Canadian Men’s National Team. The team has a big objective of making its way to
the 2012 London Olympics. The assembly of Canadian players, which is determined to rock the podium, will have lot of challenges ahead of them. The players have to do a lot of hard work, in terms of developing good combinations and chemistry among them. Every
single game will be of extreme importance.
Canadian team will have one certain advantage of playing in the familiar conditions. They have been practicing at the same courts and supposedly they would not have any difficulty in displaying a better performance. Moreover, the emotional support of local
fans will be an extra edge for them. The conditions are very much favourable, yet the team will be required to work hard.
The President of Volleyball Canada, Hugh Wong has urged the local team to prove their endeavour in the upcoming tournament.
He said, “The Pan Am Cup is important in its own right as it is the first qualification event for the World League. This is a great opportunity for Canadians to see world-class volleyball. It is a tremendous preparation opportunity for Team Canada as it
begins its Olympic Qualification journey.”
The players are extremely excited about the Pan American Cup. They have undergone tough evaluation in order to find a place on the roster of national team. Therefore, the Pan Am will provide them the right opportunity to showcase their talents and make the
country proud. One of the influential players, Alexandre Gaumont Casias of Marieville, is desperate to hit the podium. He remained off the court during last season due to an injury. He is fully prepared to take up the challenge.
