Men’s duo Kien Keat, Boon Heong confident to silence their critics – Badminton Update
The Men’s Doubles experts of Malaysia, Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong have been under severe criticism for their below par performance in their recent past. However, now the duo is in high spirits to silence their critics before the 2012 London Olympics.
World Number eight couple is scheduled to participate in four prestigious events which includes the India Open, Indonesia Open, Malaysia Open and the esteemed team event of the Thomas Cup finals before their second Olympics appearance in London.
Malaysian duo Kien Keat-Boon Heong is determined to relish the opportunity and hopes to revive their old chemistry which they have been failing to forge for the last year.
The 24-year-old member of the duo, Boon Heong admitted that they have been off colour in recent past but he hopes the wind will blow in their favour and take them to new heights before the mega event.
He said, "We have not been doing well and we look bad. However, we are trying our best to regain our form in time for the London Games."
Their last notable knock was Malaysia Open GP Gold last year and since then they have been struggling to hit their mark as they faced some woeful early exits after going down against lower ranked rivals.
However, the top Malaysian pair is confident to end this long streak of failures as they vowed to sore high in the London event.
In last edition of the Olympics in Beijing, they failed to rise and came under fire.
The senior member of the duo, Kien Keat is determined to make amends as he recalled his last Olympic failure against the Indonesian rivals Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan in quarter-finals of the mega event.
Kien Keat said, "We were not quite serious in Beijing but this time, we want to make amends. We hope to silence our critics."
Kien Keat and Boon Heong are the biggest hope for a medal by the Malaysians in the Men’s Doubles event and it will be huge task to lift the burden of expectations. However, they are confident to stand to their full stature as they have done earlier in Asian
Games and All England Open.
Their immediate challenge is the India Open, starting from April 24, where they will be striving to escort their country to glory.
