Men’s teams gearing up for 2012 CEV Volleyball European League – Volleyball news
The cracking action of 2012 CEV Volleyball European League is set to begin on May 24 with a total of ten teams from all around the European Continent.
Austria, Spain, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Denmark, Turkey, Greece, Israel, Romania, and Slovakia will be on board to contest their game skills in front of the bigger audience. The competition will be opened with the League Round matches, while the
grid of ten teams will be divided into two pools.
Greece will play host to first round matches of Pool A from May 24-26, while Romania will provide the backdrop for Pool B matches within same time frame. The preliminary phase of the tournament will cover its length over a period of five weeks. According
to the set formula of European Volleyball Federation, each participating country will get the chance to play one set of matches at home.
Greece and Romania will enjoy the home advantage in the first week, while the teams will travel to Spain and Turkey for the second leg of the tournament. Following the same pattern, the five flights of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Men’s European League will be
covered.
Following the completion of preliminary round-robin, the competition will enter the crucial final stage. 1st and 2nd ranked teams from Pool A and Pool B will meet in the semi-finals and eventually the top two will claw their way to the final showdown of
the tournament.
The Final Round will feature a total of four matches; two semi-finals, a final match, and classification match for third position. The scheduled of the final round has not been disclosed yet.
The CEV Volleyball European League was introduced back in 2004 and since then the tournament has been held annually. So far, the event has completed eight editions and now it is heading to the ninth successful year. The European League is totally dedicated
to the national teams. The Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV) invites the best teams to participate in the competition and to catch the limelight.
