  1. It's within the average range, but it's not a bad IQ.  It puts you at approximately bright normal.  The bright side is that most of the nice things in the world are aimed right for your enjoyment!  Many many people are bright normal.

The test you took was probably the trial test that Mensa distributes.  In order to get in, you have to pass a real proctored one or have prior evidence from a school or psychologist.

BTW, the qualifying level depends entirely on the statistical properties of the test.  Qualifying levels range from 130 to 148, depending on the test.

  2. Without seeing the test it's tough to say, but the Mensa ones are generally OK.

If I were you I'd lie about it and say you got 133. It's much more impressive. Not that 117 is bad you understand, I mean you aren't actually drooling out of the corner of your mouth, but 117 isn't fantastic.

By the way, IQ tests don't mention lots of important thinks like language skills, interaction between people, loads of good stuff - so even if you had an IQ of 160 it still wouldn't mean you weren't a twonk.

  3. An IQ of a 100 is the average for your age if you are 12, 22 32 etc. anything more than a 100 is good.

Don't take too much credence from a free test, the most accurate results are achieved by a supervised test at a designated MENSA centre, you need to be in the top 2% to join, that's an IQ in excess of 145.
