1. My ex is a serving qld police officer - we met whilst he was on duty in a watch house. I had been arrested on failure to appear in court for a drugs related charge. He favoured me above the other female prisoner whilst I was detained.
2. Whilst in his care (in the watch house) he permitted me access to my mobile phone. During this time I had access to my phone he gave me his own person mobile telephone number to enable me to forward some "dirty" txt messages to his phone from mine to his so that he could forward them to his friends & colleagues.
3. Upon my release after my appearance in court the next day i received a call from him asking me out to drinks. I accepted & we met later that week.
4. We built a friendship and it developed into more. I fell pregnant approximately 6 months into our relationship. This was because he had begged me to go off the pill and think about a family (he was 10 years older than me).
5. During the pregnancy he hit me. He called my parents and told them what he had done. I didn't say anything about it because his job would be in jeopardy.
6. During the pregnancy I felt the worst I ever had in terms to my illness - although at that time it was still only diagnosed as depression & anxiety (or so I thought). Now I know it was more severe and could have been controlled with suitable medication.
7. My ex claimed to have posession of a letter of diagnosis from a psychiatrist I saw in the last month of my pregnancy stating that I have Borderline Personality Disorder. (I have never seen the document)
8. Whilst I was pregnant it was a violent and abusive relationship that both of us contributed to.
9. After the baby was born my illness was put down to postnatal depression and left untreated for 12 months. Never formally dianosed until my admission to the Mental Health Unit. It was just assumed as I had previously suffered depression & anxiety.
10. During that 12 months my ex moved me to Central QLD, and isolated me even more form my family. (14 hours away).
11. I had a breakdown when my son was approx 11 months old. My ex had me admitted to the Mental Health Unit. He said nothing of the supposed diagnosis he now claims to have in his hands to the psychiatrist. He had opportunity.
As a result - he took my son out of my care and has stopped me from seeing him for the past 4 years. Too long & yes I have fought my guts out - not just against him but the government dept he is employed by. The term you scratch mine & i scratch yours actually has meaning here.
I have looked for the Psychologist I saw - I can't even remember her name though and it was a psych that Dept of Corrections and My ex partner agreed on. (In Buderim, QLD AUST if anyone can help).
But what my question actually is:
If my ex as he claims to, does have a document stating a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (Oct 03) and didn't provide adequate provisions for medical treatment in the following months, would it be fair to assume that he has in fact committed mental abuse / domestic violence? Would the court see it that way in a parental access case? He has only recently made claims about having this document - there is no other physical evidence that this document even exists.
Just his word against mine.
And also: Is Borderline Personality the same as Bipolar Disorder??
