  1. Caffeine addiction is for real and to make matters more disheartening for the avid coffee drinker or cola fan, caffeine employs the same effects as alcohol, LSD, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, nicotine, opioids, benzodiazepines, and other major drugs. This makes caffeine the widest used psychoactive drug in the world.

Caffeine withdrawal results once the user ceases consuming caffeine, which unmasks receptors in the brain that produce these symptoms. Caffeine withdrawal tends to be fairly consistent with those of other drugs, but without the life-threatening severity seen in such drugs as benzodiazepines or alcohol. Caffeine withdrawal symptoms from heavy use typically begin within 24 hours of caffeine cessation and they include:

    headaches

    fatigue

    irritability

    anxiety

    among many others.

Caffeine withdrawal can persist for up to a week or more and can, for some people, be sufficiently intolerable. Many prefer a return to using caffeine to subdue the effects felt during caffeine withdrawal symptom.

Treatment for Caffeine Addiction is one of those areas in addiction recovery which still remains unchartered. Its not clear what works. Some people find it easier to just quit all at once. While others including many health professionals feel that reduction in amount of caffeine over a period of time gives the addict the best treatments for ending their caffeine addiction.

What is clear, is the treatment for caffeine addiction needs to incorporate a varied approach. This means nutrition as well as complete cessation of any caffeine whether over a period of time or abruptly. One new treatment is called juice fasting. Followers of this method claim it works with all substances, but the best results have been seen in caffeine addiction.

Juice fasting is a type of fasting and detox diet in which the practitioner consumes only fruit and vegetable juices. Being available only in digestible carbohydrates, these foods are digested rapidly as the juice digestion process expends only a small amount of energy.

  2. by not drinking coffee

  3. It's not mental, it's physical and it's every bit as addictive as heroin, I reckon. I start each day with two double espressos, and consume several more during the day. I love the smell, I love the taste, and I love the fact that it makes my brain function. In fact, I gotta have one now
