Question:

Mental connections with random things?

There are these random points when I tap into people. I can read them suddenly really easily, and I can tell how they feel. I can even talk them into doing something by just making eyes contact (not talking). Sometimes it even happen with my cat. Also, I can sorta drop into a trace state really easily. I am a very scientific person so this is unnerving. Can someone explain?

  1. Although I believe psychic phenomena occur, I can think of some reasons not involving the paranormal why you experience some of the things you've described. You are probably sensitive to how others are feeling (or empathic) to a very high degree at times. You are perceptive enough to read the clues and "feel for people", so you know how they feel or what's on their mind. This will form a connection and allow effective non-verbal communication. You and the person could be able to express things by the "look in your eyes".

    Now about the trance state. I like to get into a trance now and then, but I don't consider it anything weird. Different frequencies of brainwaves can change a consciousness. Examples;

    BETA-14/40cps awake and alert

    ALPHA-8/13cps relaxed, day dreaming

    THETA-4/7cps deeply relaxed, bursts of creative ideas

    DELTA-.5/3.5cps unconscious

    These things you describe are every bit as amazing as psychic phenomena, and probably a good deal more practical. Anyway, that's my take on it.

  2. I knew a person who had this "control" over me. He even made me stumble one time. He would STARE at you  all the time. I didn't know what he was doing..that he was trying to control us. He controlled me many times in many ways. Turns out..he was NOT a good person. I don't know how they get control of your mind like that..I just KNOW it happened to me. I hope you won't use this "ability " like a game or for evil purposes. A person should have "free will". I think you won't have many friends if you do this. I know it's "fascinating"..but it's an evil, deceitful, harmful thing to do. (unless someone is attacking you or trying to harm you..I can see where it would be useful then..and permissible) Otherwise..think about yourself..Would you want someone to do this to you?

  3. If you're a scientific person, I'm sure you appreciate that coincidence can only be eliminated by many controlled trials. Are you sure that the person doing what you wanted them to do was not coincidence?  As a check, why don't you start making them do weird things that they would never do -- quack like a duck for no reason, etc. Your results then would be much more compelling.

    As far as telling how somebody feels -- there are many natural ways for a person to communicate how they are feeling besides verbal. Facial cues, body gestures and mannerisms,  etc., all can tip you off. Are you sure this isn't it?  As a scientific person, can you find a way to eliminate this effect (e.g., have the person behind a curtain) and try again?

    Thanks for the interesting question.
