Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 claims that mental strength will be a crucial factor in determining the winner of this year’s Barclays Premier League.
This season’s title race is all but confirmed to be a two horse race. Following their massive spending, Manchester City have established themselves as direct opponent to their cross-town rivals and are only lagging three points behind them, as a mouth-watering
tie at the Etihad looms closer.
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s men on the other hand have been fighting for the crown nearly every season and it’s their experience which has often seen them through on countless occasions.
That coupled with their relentless die-hard attitude has placed them in ascendency this term and given how things have shaped up, the trophy is likely to remain at Old Trafford.
However there are still many games left and in football, nothing can be taken for granted. United’s players are determined to come out on top and are looking to exploit anything they can in order to strengthen their strangle hold at the top.
Amongst those, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 International Rio Ferdinand has voiced his concern and revealed that mental strength was an important factor, which could potentially have a direct say in which half of Manchester the trophy goes to.
“You’ve got to hold your nerve, but just as important as that, if not more important, is trusting each other. You’ve got to trust in the fact that, if you’re not going to create a chance, someone else [in the United team] is.”
“Or if you’re not going to put your head on the ball when it comes into the box or make that tackle, someone else is. That’s the way you’ve got to be - the team that does that best between now and the end of the season will be the one to win the league.”
He also said that the Red Devils would have preferred to play some eye catching against the Cottagers but in the end it didn’t happen, as the result was clearly more important.
“Ideally, we’d like to have played better football [against Fulham], but it wasn’t to be,” he said.
United now face Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 at Ewood Park on the 2nd of April.
