  1. I like Longhorn Steak... they bring you a house salad, steak of your choice ( I like the T-bone or Filet), side vege., like asparagus and baked potato or fries.  Don't really need an appetizer or dessert!

  3. Grade of the steak is naturally the most important think. Then is it dry aged or wet aged on the premises? Most GREAT steak houses age their own beef. If not in the restaurant, in a commisary or other facility controlled by them. Then, are the steaks hand carved by the person who is going to cook them? A great broiler dude knows exactly what cuts he has in his pan, and knows which ones to cook for what degree of "doneness."

    I like a TBone Pittsburgh myself. My wife likes a Filet. Stay away from the froo froo sauces and what not. Steak should be steak. Perhaps with the exception of a nice au poivre. Another way to know if a steak house is good is to get some prime rib. BONE IN WITHOUT EXCEPTION. The way they present rib tells you alot about the way they cook everything. If you order rare rib and it comes out bloody, but it's dry inside, it's overcooked and they squeeze it to make it look rare. Leave immediately if that happens and dont go back.

    The other important thing to look for is a place that has a flame thrower for a broiler. You want your steak cooked on a VERY hot grille. Seals in the juices and gives you nice lines on the steak. The lines look good for one. But they also mean that the heat penetrated the steak evenly. Important stuff.

    You want some variety beside steak. Swordfish, salmon, scallops, shrimp, maybe a chicken teriyaki dish, rack of lamb. Always nice. Do not get too involved with the number of entres. Do what you know best. And keep it simple.

    Starters go for shrimp cocktail, carpaccio, soups.

    Sides and salads? Look for a quality Bleu Cheese. A nice vinegrette. Fresh pepper etc. Properly cooked bakers and shrooms are always nice. Snow peas, broccoli...green veggies are a good choice if done right.

    Deserts? Creme Broulet, Fresh Berries with a schlag, Gelato, some kind of cheesecake, chocolate cake and the obligatory small hot fudge sundae?

    Now I have to go snag a steak!

  5. Always look for a salad first, cuz that way u will have something to satisfy u b4 the STEAK! And when u look for a steak always look for a Host's choice or signature cut, becuz most of the time they're the best cut and has the best flavor!
