Question:

Mercedes 250D Electric Window Problem?

I have an old F reg Merc 250D which I love to bits. Thing is, the lhs front and back windows do not work. I thought it might be the fuses, but one fuse does the front left and back right, the other the front right and back left. Both rhs windows work fine so could not be that.

Can anyone give me any pointers. I do not want to speak to a garage as they might go the expensive route and I want to see if I can fix it first.

Many thanks in advance.

  1. Unlikely two window motors would fail together therefore I would suspect an electrical problem If fuse is ok the check the wiring with a meter.

  2. It may be a mechanical fault, in which case you have two choices: 1) put up with the fault; 2) face a big bill for repair; M-B parts prices are obscene.

However, I've had occasional failures from different windows on my old E-class due simply to sticky window frame channels Try cleaning the window frames very carefully, and rubbing/spraying WD 40 or some other lubricant in the channels. I can't promise that will work, but the mechanism is, I'm told, quite sensitive, and the process has worked for me.

Good luck - I can certainly understand why you love your M-B to bits.
