Mercedes AMG driver Nico Rosberg clarifies problem on second day at Barcelona – Formula 1 news
Nico Rosberg clarified that a transmission oil leakage caused the absence of Mercedes on the second day of testing during the last three hours, in the second pre-season test at Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona.
The team had to retire its schedule in advance due to the problem. However, Rosberg has stated that this problem does not concern him despite the launching of the new Mercedes W03 just before this test and leaving the team with just another test left before
preparing the new car for the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season opening in Melbourne on March 18, 2012.
Rosberg completed 75 laps on the first day of the second test and it was quite an exciting and encouraging sunup for the team. However, after lunch before pitting, Rosberg only completed 7 further laps and did not reappear in the afternoon testing session.
“It was good to get into proper testing today,” Rosberg said. “Early in the morning, it was a bit too cold on the track to collect some decent information, however later we were able to get into our planned work. In the afternoon session, unfortunately we
had a transmission oil leak which meant that I wasn't able to complete any further running.”
Rosberg expressed that his attention was more inclined towards the launch of the new car in the second test which has created a feeling of content for the team.
Furthermore, Rosberg asserted that the encouraging feeling about the test programme has not been affected because of this problem as on the first day of the test we were quite successful in gathering the much needed information that will definitely help
the team for making improvements in the car for the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season.
Moreover, he thinks that such things are much expected to be happened during the test sessions and must be taken positively because the information will certainly help in creating a better understanding about the car.
Rosberg said, “That doesn't affect my positive feelings about our test programme, and things like that can happen in the early stages of running a new car. Now I am looking forward to driving again on Friday.”
