Mercedes AMG driver Nico Rosberg confident about beating Michael Schumacher – Formula 1 news
Nico Rosberg has expressed his confidence that he will be successful in beating Michael Schumacher in the upcoming 2012 Formula 1 season.
Rosberg has been successful in taking the lead from the old champion, Schumacher from the last couple of seasons. In 2010, Rosberg was way ahead of Schumacher with a lead of 70 points in the drivers’ championship but the gap was significantly reduced to
only 13 points in the following year with Schumacher improving considerably well during the season.
Moreover, Rosberg beating Schumacher in over the course of the year qualifying by 16-3 is quite out of concern.
“For sure he had a stronger season last year,” Rosberg said.
However, Rosberg still believes that he can beat Schumacher in the upcoming season while thinking that the changes in the rules helped Schumacher in getting the points. Nonetheless, it is quite evident that Rosberg will face hardships and challenges to fulfil
his claims.
Rosberg’s assertions concerning his teammate and seven-time world champion, Schumacher, often offend Formula 1 fans and implications are drawn that the young player should focus on winning championship rather than competing with his own teammate.
Moreover, it puts a question mark on Rosberg’s own abilities too as he is still without a victory after playing in 108 Grands Prix and scoring only 306.5 overall championship points in his F1’s career. Therefore, Rosberg should create a positive outlook
for his teammate, Schumacher and avoid such implications.
Nevertheless, after the launch of Mercedes new W03, Rosberg declined to set any daring goals and showed persistence for the team and insisted on the issue that the team has to show indications of closing the gap to the three leading teams which include Ferrari,
McLaren-Mercedes and Red Bull Racing.
“I'm as positive as ever going into this season, just sharing it with the rest of the team really. There's a good atmosphere, everybody's very motivated to make the best of it and get going and improve the car and improve as a team and get closer to those
people in front. That's what we all want and there's a great drive within the team to achieve that,” Rosberg said.
