Anyone who drives one of the above Mercs? What do you think of it?

I am looking to buy a 2nd hand car, i am never fan of German cars cuz they are expensive, but in Auto traders when i search, these cars models 2002 to 2005 are cheaper than other brands and most of them are also very low mileage so i wonder why people want to sell them if German cars are faultless.

Please help me make my mind, if these cars are reliable and dont make much trips to mechanics then i will try one.

I have had ford fiesta si and Nissan Sunny Flamenco, i never had any trouble with them, i just have to change my car and get a 5 door car because i find 3 doors cars very inconvenient.

  1. Those models of Mercedes are so cheap, because they were the budget Benz's in the first place.

They are slow, and much less luxuriously equipped than a C class or better. They are still built to Mercedes standards, so if you don't care about the traffic light grand prix, then by all means, find a well-maintained example and buy it!

  2. They are Ok - but expensive for what they are. I had one for a week and it was not too bad - except that I found the position of the clutch pedal gave me problems - had lots of pain in my left foot afterwards .... but that might just be me.

If I was looking I would buy a small toyota instead  - ultra reliable and not as expensive.
