Mercedes-Benz - Please Help xx?

Hey Guys,

Im Getting a Merc But Cant Decide Whether to get a SL Or a CLK Ive Viewed Both & They Are Both Amazingg

Anyone Any Opinions Which is Better Etc.

SL class are around 100,000 or more.

CLK class are no more than 70,000.

If you have the money, go for the SL. SLs are more exclusive and it has more luxury put into it. You could compare this car to the Audi R8 and BMW 6 series.

I think you are not ready to have either one. People only deserve a MB if they have earned their own money to pay for it. You sound like a spoiled brat.

That really depends on what you want / need. The CLK is a bigger car, so more room to carry people and stuff. You'll also get a newer CLK with fewer miles for the same money you'll put in the SL. Now the flip side of the coin -- The SL will depreciate slower. It's also not a "mass production" car like the CLK - fewer numbers of them are produced each year. I had a '98 SL500 -- truly an amazing car.

I will say this as well - the newer body-style Benz's (CLK, SL, E-class, etc.) which were largely designed & engineered post-Chrysler-merger have been prone to a lot more problems than the next-oldest body style, which all were engineered pre-merger. My '98 SL500 and '01 E320 were rock solid compared to my '04 E500, which was in the Dealer's shop more than it was in my garage. Whichever you choose, study the reliability ratings on the model first.

All that said, I've still a fan of Mercedes - nothing quite like them. I've owned one BMW - not even in the same league.

So - do your homework, understand what matters most to YOU, and you'll make an intelligent decision that you will happy with.

I have an E-320 4matic and before this one I had a C-240. I wouldn't get anything other than Mercedes, they're amazing. Both classes are great, but the SL has almost double the horse power. Different ride too, the S-classes are unreal. My next is going to be an AMG, not sure which yet but can't wait. Congrats and good luck!
