I was hit from behind and then i checked my bumper every thing looked clean and i let the guy off. But once i tried starting my engine it showed check engine light after giving start issues for a second. I then waited for a day or so and now there seems to be a problem with starting which is growing day by day.

It seems fine when it starts but some times it does not start (feels like it is trying very hard to start with started going on ) . If i stop trying for a second and do it again it does start after few atempts .

Can some one help me on this one .

  1. It sounds like the fuel pump may have been damaged. If the car's still under warranty, take it to a dealer and have them inspect it. Since the fuel pump is right there in the rear of the car, a hard jolt such as another car hitting it can loosen some of the parts. If fuel isn't being delivered to the motor properly, it will also cause the Check Engine light.

Lesson #1: NEVER let a fender-bender go, no matter how miniscule the damage may seem. =]

  2. Have the entire exhaust system checked. Either a pipe got bent, or more likely, the impact has shattered the internals on the catalytic converter. Of course, it could be something bent in the fuel filler area making the car think the gas cap is loose, or an electrical connector has been shunted, You need to read the check engine code(s) and that will point you in the proper area, although it will NOT necessarily tell you exactly which component needs to be changed. Bummer. Nice car.
