Mercedes Benz highway gas mileage with 7 speed transmission?

With 7 gears wouldnt it get outstanding mileage on highway?

That is not how fuel mileage works, there is a certain amount of energy required to move a 3500 pound car at 70 miles an hour on the freeway, overcoming wind resistance inertia etc.. it won't make a significant difference if you are doing higher RPM's with less fuel per cycle, or lower rpms with more fuel(load) per cycle
