Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn aiming for championship in the 2013 Formula 1 season
Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn has recently stated that the team will be aiming for a championship winning car in 2013 as they are currently struggling to perform alongside the top running teams of the Formula 1.
Since they are trying to be realistic, they are aware of the fact that they cannot produce the best car on the grid in just a matter of a year.
“Our intention is to be better every year and it is clear that in this sense we cannot be satisfied. Last year we were fourth and we are again. The next step should be to fight for third or second, and then go for the title in 2013,” Brawn told Spain’s El
Pais newspaper.
The team is currently in 4th place in the constructors’ standings which means that they are the best of the rest since they are way off the pace of the top running teams. However, they are ahead of the remaining teams in the sport as well as a result of
which, they are aware of the fact that they need to focus and evaluate many things in order to make some major improvements.
“Mercedes knows what kind of challenge competing in Formula One is and that's why they want to prove they are capable of meeting the challenge and succeeding. It is the most competitive and complicated championship and if winning it was easy, it would not
be interesting,” he said.
The team was at first named as BrawnGP in 2009 when the team secured both drivers’ and constructors’ titles which was quite amazing as it was their debut season in the sport.
Since then, the fans have been expecting a lot from them and one has to admit that consistency is the main feature required to become an established top-running team in Formula 1 which Mercedes GP have not shown yet.
They are struggling and working really hard though and they have the people and determination to win titles as well in the near future therefore we can expect anything from them in the near future.
