Mercedes GP boss Ross Brawn praises factory shut down rule during summer break – Formula 1 news
Ross Brawn, the team principal of Mercedes GP has recently stated that closing down the factories of each respective team during the August summer break is great for the teams as they finally get to rest and take their minds off from the sport for a while.
According to some reports, it has been revealed that the teams are not even allowed to communicate through emails during this time which for some teams is quite irritating but for some, it makes their holidays even more relaxing.
“It was one of the best ideas we have ever had because everyone has worked flat out with constant stress and almost constantly travelling since the beginning of the year,” said Brawn.
According to Toro Rosso chief Franz Tost on the other hand, the teams are only allowed to maintain their equipment including wind tunnels which is done by external companies.
However, this rule has not been enforced by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and is not checked as strictly as the rest of the rules. Keeping that in mind, the teams like to follow this rule quite strictly from their sides and it is more like
a mutual understanding rather than an agreement.
According to some reports, it has been revealed that the teams have to pay 2 million Euros as a donation to the FIA if they break this ‘treaty.’
Either way, the best thing about this break is that after it is over, each team’s pace changes quite a lot and the sport becomes even more unpredictable. The teams get to think a lot about their respective cars and performances as a result of which, they
evaluate the data during this time.
After they return back to the garages, they are pretty clear of what they should do and what they should not as a result of which the development of each team’s respective car takes place after these breaks.
The Belgian Grand Prix is expected to take place on August 28, 2011 and the upcoming event is going to be really interesting.
