Mercedes GP dismiss Michael Schumacher’s sickness rumours
Mercedes GP have dismissed rumours related to Michael Schumacher’s problems in practicing with the team’s simulator.
The testing has been cut down in Formula 1 largely and due to that, the drivers practice on simulators. However, the seven-time world champion has not been able to practice consistently on the simulators as he feels sick in them.
The Mercedes team stated that this problem is not new to the legendary driver and he has been facing such issues throughout his career. The team claimed that this lack of practice on the simulators will not affect his performance.
The team also claimed that more simulators that are realistic will be developed for their drivers which will help them practice a lot better than the current simulators.
The team further stated, “The simulator is one of a number of tools which drivers use to prepare for the race weekend and the condition has not adversely affected Michael's race preparation or his competitiveness with regard to his team-mate. The situation has been exacerbated by the level of our current simulator technology.”
The legendary driver has been under the scanner after his disappointing comeback in 2010. He was expected to be competitive but the fans were disappointed as the seven-time champion ended on the ninth position in the overall drivers’ standings while his teammate Nico Rosberg scored almost double the points scored by him.
Recently, former Formula 1 champion Alain Prost claimed that Schumacher will never be able to regain his form considering his age. He predicted that the German will continue to struggle in the 2011 season as well just like the previous season.
However, the two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso thinks otherwise. The Spaniard has been involved in intense competition with Schumacher and he hinted Schumacher as his toughest opponent for the 2011 season.
There are many expectations from the current champion, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Alonso but the presence of Schumacher can never be underestimated. He has stated several times that he will continue racing as it was his personal decision to come out of retirement.
