Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher: He is still good enough – Formula 1 news
Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher has recently updated the media outlets on his physical fitness.
His statement mentioned that he is still good enough to race in the sport. Schumacher also mentioned that he is not absolutely same now as he was 10 or 15 years in back.
The seven-time World Champion rejoined the sport in 2010 after his three-year retirement. He gave retirement from Formula 1 at the age of 37 in the end of 2006.
Before his retirement he won the title of 2006. Schumacher is still in a competitive form and he can struggle to keep up with challenges.
Some F1 drivers pointed to the Schumacher’s age, as he turned to 42 in the month of January. However, the German admitted, "Certainly it is not possible to turn back the biological clock."
On the other hand, Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel hinted a very competitive 2011 Formula 1 season among the strong contenders of Formula One, in which he mentioned the name of Schumacher. He said to reporters that the Schumacher’s history in the
sport is too great as compared to other former drivers.
Schumacher accepted his disappointing performance in the 2010 Formula 1 season. He added that the 2010 Mercedes car experienced a lot of mechanical problems throughout the season and due to that, he could not perform well on the grid.
In the Official tests of Formula One, the German showed his good progress in the new MGP-W02 car.
With regards to car’s performance in the first three pre-season test sessions, Mercedes new car faced some engine problem in the Valencia and Jerez tests. Despite to car’s issues the Petronas-sponsored team driver tried his best to get better results for
his team.
At Barcelona racetrack he registered good scores of the team at the test timesheets. The team was really impressed with Schumacher’s show at Barcelona, as he performed really well for them.
Schumacher mentioned, “I came on board in December 2009 and the engineers knew already that the car would not suit me. But, of course, it was done.”
The 42-year-old driver fans are very excited to see him in the 2011 Formula 1 season. It will be interesting to see how he drives in the 2011 Australian Grand Prix, which is schedule to take place on March 27, in Melbourne.
