Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher delighted with team’s performance at Japanese GP – Formula 1
Michael Schumacher of Mercedes GP is very happy at his team’s performance in the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix held on Sunday, October 9 at Suzuka.
Schumacher finished the race in sixth position after starting from 8th on the grid. He drove the MGP-W02 for 53 laps under dry and sunny conditions to maximum potential, and seized all opportunities that came his way.
The seven-time-world champion thinks that the Brackley-based team gave its optimal performance and extracted the best out of the car.
Schumacher said, “I’m very happy with what we achieved in Suzuka today as we maximised our potential of the car, and managed to put in a good race. The team did a great job the whole weekend in finding performance and transforming it into the race. I think
there was not more to expect and achieve.”
His teammate Nico Rosberg, who started the race at the back of the grid from 23rd, had a very tough job at hand. Nonetheless, the 26-year-old German, who had set his aim to end the race in the top ten positions, managed to secure a 10th
place in the end.
The safety car that was deployed in the middle of the race came to the luck of Rosberg that helped him drive pass two cars.
Schumacher is very proud of his compatriot Sebastian Vettel on securing his second consecutive title as he believes he has been unbeatable throughout the season with his outstanding and impeccable performance.
Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn was very happy to see the way his team performed at the Japanese GP and applauded their efforts.
The Mercedes GP team is now 4th on the constructors’ standings with 114 points after the Suzuka race.
Let’s see how they fare in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season in which only four races are left. The next race is scheduled to take place in Korea this weekend, October 14-16.
