Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher hoping to change his approach soon – Formula 1 news
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher has recently admitted that he is going to have to change his approach if he wants to achieve his goals in the 2011 season.
The Mercedes driver stated that he is not at all happy with his current position in the drivers’ standings and that he is quite disappointed after finishing in 12th place at the Turkish Grand Prix two weeks ago.
However, the German insists that he is going to take things differently at this week’s Spanish Grand Prix in order to achieve his goals.
“If you are in the flow and everything is right then you feel it, I am aware and I know that I am able to do this, but I know you have to pull it in the right moment of time and that success rate is not yet 100%,” Schumacher told the media.
Other than that, he stated since he made a mistake at turn one of the qualifying session of the Turkish Grand Prix which was one of the main reasons for his weak performance as he qualified in 8th place as a result, he is hoping to avoid mistakes
in the future.
“Certainly I need to change something, in a way that avoids the mistake that I did in turn one in Turkey that leads to other things you do over the edge,” he said.
His teammate Nico Rosberg on the other hand is performing much better than him as Nico started the race from 3rd place on the grid at the Turkish Grand Prix and is currently making less mistakes.
“I don't think it is to do with pressure, I think it is just getting it spot on and I don't forget that my team-mate is pretty good on this one to get it spot on,” the seven-time world champion added.
The upcoming race is going to be very important for all of the teams as it is going to be a real test for their cars since the Circuit de Catalunya is one of the most technical circuits of the Formula 1 calendar.
