Mercedes GP driver Michael Schumacher says crashes show his focus – Formula 1 news
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher has said that he is still focussed and determined to score good results even though he has been struggling to perform at his best.
“I am just fighting as hard as I can to get to the front, and for that I have to take some risks,” Schumacher said.
These risks have led him to crashes mostly as a result of which he has not been able to score some good results for his team statistically and is currently in 10th place in the drivers’ standings with just 28 points.
These results are quite disappointing for the German driver as he was hoping of challenging the top running teams for the championships before the beginning of the 2011 Formula 1 season. Unfortunately, his team did not provide him with the best possible
car and still, the team has not secured a single podium position.
However, Michael claims that these crashes are a sign that he is still focussed and is taking risks as a result of which, he has caused some collisions.
“Each of the collisions this season had a different reason. I'm no different to before and certainly not unfocused. Believe me, I have found some unfortunate situations unnecessary and would gladly have avoided them,” Schumacher told the media.
Currently, his teammate Nico Rosberg is currently in 7th place with 40 points which clearly means that he is having a much better run this season comparatively.
The team still claims that they have what it takes to score some good results but they have also said that they will now have to shift their focus to the 2012 Formula 1 season in order to come up with the best possible car and challenge for the titles in
the upcoming season.
Mercedes GP are currently in 4th place in the constructors’ standings just 3 points ahead of Lotus Renault GP. Let’s see if they can hang on to their position in the 2011 championship in the remainder of the season.
