Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg struggling to achieve his goals in 2011 Formula 1 season
Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg has said that he is struggling to score race wins in the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season.
Winning is Rosberg’s ultimate goal and it seems that in the 2011 Formula 1 season, this might not be possible for the young German driver since beating Red Bull Racing has not even been easy for teams like McLaren and Ferrari.
Nico has by far been one of the better drivers of the season as he has scored some good results during qualifying rounds. However, due to lack of consistency, he has not been able to secure a single podium up until now. Since the British Grand Prix is going
to take place this coming weekend, it seems that his chances of winning races are still bleak because Mercedes GP still have not solved any of their problems and have not introduced any major upgrades to their car yet.
“Above all is the fact that I want to win races. [I'm] not where I was expecting to be that's for sure, far from it actually. It's been a difficult season for me and for the whole team,” said Rosberg.
The 2011 Formula 1 season has been quite depressing for Mercedes GP as they were hoping to challenge the front-running teams of the sport. However, due to the lack of pace and inconsistency since the beginning of the season, the team has been unable to keep
up with McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing. As a result, it seems that the team has now shifted its focus to its 2012 car.
“Definitely, you get better every year, you always learn something new,” insisted Rosberg, whose best results in 2011 are two fifth place finishes. “I get my happiness from knowing that I've had a good performance with what I have available. To explain why
you don't see it on paper is that our sport is so linked to the car and this year our car is not performing as well as it was last year in comparison to other teams.”
Nevertheless, one has to admit that Rosberg is performing much better than his teammate Michael Schumacher and if he is provided with a good competitive car, he can definitely score some pretty good results.
