Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg to take place in triathlon during three-week break – Formula 1 news
German driver Nico Rosberg has said that he is going to take place in a triathlon and become another driver who is willing to take part in this sort of an event.
In the past, Jenson Button of McLaren and Red Bull’s Mark Webber also took part in such triathlons along with some other drivers. Button, who has a habit of competing in triathlons, recently participated in one in April 2011 along with the seven-time Tour
de France champion Lance Armstrong.
Mercedes GP have been struggling to perform as their new car is not as competitive as the new Red Bull Racing Team or McLaren car even though they vowed to compete for the titles actively in 2011.
The team was able to score decent results during the pre-season testing period and it seemed that they would be one of the top running teams of the sport in the season but since the season opening race in Australia, the team is struggling to live up to its
fans expectations.
However, the team’s performance is improving with every race and after a more competitive Chinese Grand Prix, Nico Rosberg is now heading to the south of France for the triathlon. Staying away from the sport for sometime and returning with a fresher mind
before the upcoming race in Turkey might do wonders for him and the team.
“On Easter Sunday I'm doing a triathlon with some friends in Nice, which is exciting,” said Rosberg, referring to the triathlon in the French city of Nice Cote d’Azur.
Rosberg gave an impressive performance at the recent Chinese Grand Prix as he started from 4th place on the grid and finished in 5th place behind McLaren’s Jenson Button to give his team its first promising result of the season.
The ongoing season of Formula 1 is becoming more entertaining with every race and since Mercedes GP scored a pretty good performance this past weekend, the team is now hoping to improve its new car even more and hopefully challenge the top-running teams
of the sport.
