Mercedes GP drivers Schumacher and Rosberg are confident for 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 team Mercedes GP drivers, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg have admitted that they are fully confident ahead of the 2011 season.
After their impressive performance over the test sessions in the new MGP-W02 car, they are looking forward to a successful season.
Both Mercedes drivers played an exciting role, during the testing and put all their efforts on setting the pace. Other than the pace, they were also struggling for the car reliability and learnt the advanced features of their 2011 car.
The seven-time world champion Schumacher came back on the grid after three years so it was a big challenge for him, to race among the strong contenders of Formula 1, but he tried his best to impress in 2010 and posted positive results for the team on the
timesheets.
He started his 2011 test sessions in Valencia with his teammate Rosberg where they both worked hard and registered quick runs for Mercedes. The 42-year-old Schumacher admitted his team’s good work over the winter testing.
He told the media, “I am confident that we can compete for podium finishes, and I am hopeful we can fight for victories at some of the races. Saying, that we will only see the truth once the season gets underway, so I can hardly wait to go to Melbourne to
finally see what the real picture is.”
With regards to new MGP-W02 car run, it completed 5,759 kilometres over the test sessions. On the other hand, Rosberg is happy ahead of his new package performance and accepted that it has a potential to succeed in the 2011 season.
He said, “We’ve made good progress over the four tests. It’s perhaps been a more difficult winter than we expected but everyone has worked really hard and pushed on with the new upgrades so that we have the car that we want for the start of the season. We
haven’t got the fastest car yet but we are going in the right direction.”
Both Mercedes GP drivers will be seen in full action in their opening race of the season that is going to start in a few days time.
It will be interesting to see the unpredictable competition among the strong F1 contenders over the season races.
